The group LIL LEAGUE (ćŖć« ćŖć¼ć°) debuted on January 11, 2023 with the single "Hunter" under the LDH Agency and soon after they were included in the EXILE TRIBE project.
Its members are: Iwaki Sena (Vocalist, Dancer), Nakamura Tatsuhiro (Vocalist, Dancer), Yamada Kodai (Vocalist, Dancer), Okao Matora (Vocalist, Dancer), Momoda Haima (Vocalist, Dancer) and Nanba Sora (Vocalist, Dancer).
On February 28, 2024 they released their new album "TRICKSTER."
Let's get to know them better.
KZ- How did you feel about winning the "ICON Z -Dreams For Children-" Grand Prix?
Momoda: Especially from now on, I have to bring smiles to the faces of many people as an artist. So, I was happy to win the Grand Prix, but at the same time I felt responsible as a professional.
KZ- In 2023 you did your first tour "LIL LEAGUE LIVE TOUR." What was the highlight of the event? What was the most striking aspect of the event?
Yamada: We spent a lot of time on the production, so when the fans cheered for us at the performance, I felt like all that hard work had paid off. One of the most interesting things was that no one had managed the quick outfit change, which we tried for the first time in the rehearsal the day before. We went into the performance without knowing if we could pull it off.
KZ- Tell us about "TRICKSTER," what is the concept, what do you want to convey?
Momoda: The word means, like, "mischievous rogue," and it evokes the image of LIL LEAGUE, which sings both pop and dark songs, going back and forth between the overworld and the underworld.
Nakamura: The album depicts the past, the present, and the future, so I hope fans will enjoy it while anticipating not only what we have been, but also what we will be in the future.
KZ- Parlez-nous de "TRICKSTER", quel est le concept, que voulez-vous transmettre ?
KZ- This is the year of the dragon and "FeiLong" was chosen as the theme song for the National High School Basketball Tournament. How did that happen?
Momoda: Because four of our members are still in junior high and high school, we feel that it was very meaningful for us, who are of the same generation as the athletes competing in the tournament, to encourage the athletes. I think we were able to convey the message to the younger generation with the lyrics and give them the support that only we can.
KZ- The word "GATEWAY," which is also the title of your live tour, has the meanings of “entrance” and “new beginnings.” What is your "GATEWAY" for this year, 2024?
Yamada: I believe that a GATEWAY called "NEW LIL LEAGUE" awaits us. Because we see the new LIL LEAGUE as an abstract framework, we believe that our possibilities are everywhere. It may be a year that will undercut the expectations of our fans in a good way.
KZ- "Monster" has a very aggressive choreography. What is the message of the song? What or who is the monster?
Nakamura: It’s the fear inside of us. Everyone has different fears, so I’d like you to listen to "Monster" as if it was one of your fears. The song is filled with the idea of not being afraid of scary things and even enjoying them.
KZ- In "Hunter" you talk about friends and treasure hunting. What is the treasure you would like to find? What are you looking for with your music?
Momoda: These are the fans we’ll meet in the future. I believe that the people who’ve been supporting us and the people we’ll meet in the future are all treasures to us.
KZ- What are your plans for 2024, do you have a world tour in mind?
Yamada: We’re considering traveling around the world. We’ve received requests from overseas fans for us to perform outside of Japan, so we definitely want to grow further and deliver our activities globally in order to have people from all over the world watch our endeavours.
Nakamura: We haven’t been able to perform overseas very often, but we have been sending out information about how we’re doing through social media. We’d like to share the joy of creating with you, the fans, and we’ll continue to aim to be artists who can perform all over the world.
