Interview with/avec NINE.i

The group NINE.i (나인아이) debuted on March 30, 2022 with the EP "NEW WORLD" under First One Entertainment.
On November 8, 2022 they released their 2nd EP "I. Part 1" and on August 3, 2023, their 3rd EP "NEW MIND" arrived.
Winnie (Rapper), remains inactive but Jewon (Leader and Vocalist), Eden (Vocalist), Minjun (Vocalist), Vahn (Producer, Vocalist and Rapper), Vari (Vocalist), Seowon (Dancer), Taehun (Performance Leader), Joohyoung (Vocalist) and maknae Jiho (Rapper) have answered our questions.

Le groupe NINE.i (나인아이) a fait ses débuts le 30 mars 2022 avec l'EP "NEW WORLD" sous l'égide de First One Entertainment.
Le 8 novembre 2022, ils ont sorti leur deuxième EP "I. Part 1" et le 3 août 2023, leur troisième EP "NEW MIND" est arrivé.
Winnie (Rapper), reste inactive mais Jewon (Leader et Vocalist), Eden (Vocalist), Minjun (Vocalist), Vahn (Producer, Vocalist and Rapper), Vari (Vocalist), Seowon (Dancer), Taehun (Performance Leader), Joohyoung (Vocalist) et maknae Jiho (Rapper) ont répondu à nos questions.

KZ- How would you say you have evolved from "NEW WORLD" to "NEW MIND"?

Jewon- I think you can view it as a process of NINE.i finding the true me in the 2nd album and growing up once again with new thoughts realized in it.

KZ- Comment diriez-vous que vous avez évolué de "NEW WORLD" à "NEW MIND" ?

Jewon- Je pense que l'on peut considérer cela comme un processus dans lequel NINE.i a trouvé son vrai moi dans le deuxième album et a grandi une fois de plus en réalisant de nouvelles pensées dans cet album.

KZ- The concept of "I. Part 1" was "Myself". What is the concept of "NEW MIND"?

Minjun- The album begins with ‘N’, symbolizing NINE.i, and carries the message of living authentically by quieting the mind and relying on inner decision-making.

KZ- Le concept de "I. Part 1" était "Myself" (moi-même). Quel est le concept de "NEW MIND" ?

Minjun- L'album commence par un "N", symbolisant NINE.i, et transmet le message de vivre de manière authentique en apaisant l'esprit et en s'appuyant sur les décisions intérieures.

KZ- This is a question for Vahn, what or who inspires you to compose?

Vahn- I usually get inspiration from experience. Among them, I prefer direct experience. Indirect experiences are great too, but I have a lot more affection for the works I personally feel, understand, and write about.

KZ- C'est une question pour Vahn, qu'est-ce qui t'inspire pour composer ?

Vahn- Je m'inspire généralement de mes expériences. Parmi celles-ci, je préfère l'expérience directe. Les expériences indirectes sont également excellentes, mais j'ai beaucoup plus d'affection pour les œuvres que je ressens personnellement, que je comprends et sur lesquelles j'écris.

KZ- What has been the most difficult song (lyrics or choreography)? Favorite song from this album?

Taehun- Personally, the song that I felt difficult when I sang it was ‘Hurt’. When I thought about this song, it felt a bit rough, and I had to sing it as if I was really hurt, but it was really, really difficult to express that feeling. And my favorite song on the album is ‘Power up’! You'll know if you listen to it, it's a song that makes you feel refreshed and excited just by listening to it!!

KZ- Quelle a été la chanson la plus difficile (paroles ou chorégraphie) ? Quelle est votre chanson préférée de cet album ?

Taehun- Personnellement, la chanson qui m'a semblé la plus difficile à chanter est "Hurt". Quand j'ai pensé à cette chanson, je l'ai trouvée un peu dure, et j'ai dû la chanter comme si j'étais vraiment blessé, mais c'était vraiment, vraiment difficile d'exprimer ce sentiment. Et ma chanson préférée de l'album est "Power up" ! Vous le saurez si vous l'écoutez, c'est une chanson qui vous fait vous sentir rafraîchi et excité rien qu'en l'écoutant !

KZ- "Turn it Off" is the main theme. Tell us about it, what do you want to transmit?

Vahn- When I stay in a noisy city for a long time, sometimes I really want to go to a quiet country. I wanted to say that I should turn it off for a while and put it down when my head is noisy with worries and anxieties.

KZ- "Turn it Off" est le thème principal. Parlez-nous-en, que voulez-vous transmettre ?

Vahn- Lorsque je reste longtemps dans une ville bruyante, j'ai parfois envie d'aller dans une campagne tranquille. Je voulais dire que je devrais l'éteindre pendant un certain temps et le poser lorsque ma tête est pleine de soucis et d'anxiété.

KZ- The track "아파 (Hurt)" tells us about wounds, what has hurt you the most in life?

Vari- I think the ambition for what I do made me exhausted. There were many moments when I was tired of wanting to do everything well, but I was greatly comforted by receiving much love and encouragement from i.ENIN, and with that power, I am walking at my own pace, one step at a time!

KZ- Le titre "아파 (Hurt)" parle de blessures, qu'est-ce qui vous a le plus blessé dans la vie ?

Vari- Je pense que l'ambition de ce que je fais m'a épuisé. Il y a eu de nombreux moments où j'étais fatiguée de vouloir tout faire bien, mais j'ai été grandement réconfortée par l'amour et les encouragements que j'ai reçus de i.ENIN, et grâce à cette force, je marche à mon propre rythme, un pas après l'autre !

KZ- What memories do you have of school? What was your "Highschool Love" like?

Eden- I think I was able to create new memories through this song called “Highschool Love”. I hope i.ENIN will also feel various new emotions through our voices.

KZ- Quels souvenirs gardez-vous de l'école ? Comment était votre "Highschool Love" ?

Eden- Je pense que j'ai pu créer de nouveaux souvenirs grâce à cette chanson intitulée "Highschool Love". J'espère que i.ENIN ressentira également de nouvelles émotions grâce à nos voix.

KZ- Define your musical style in three words.

Joohyoung- For me, there are three things: ‘Persuasion’, ‘Addiction’, and ‘Recognition’.

KZ- Définissez votre style musical en trois mots.

Joohyoung- Pour moi, il y a trois choses : "Persuasion", "Addiction" et "Reconnaissance".

KZ- In our previous interview you said that " NINE.i’s goal for 2023 is to show various charms of the group, just like how we did on our album ‘I (Part.1)’. We also want to connect more with our Spanish i.ENIN" Your charisma is seen in the new work. Do you feel the love of i.ENIN in Spain? Do you plan to come to Spain to conquer it?

Seowon- While using SNS, there arei.ENIN who love NINE.i in Spain. I've never been to Spain, but thank you so much for sending me so much love. If there is a chance, I will definitely go to meet the Spanish i.ENINs.

KZ- Dans notre précédente interview, vous avez déclaré que " l'objectif de NINE.i pour 2023 est de montrer les différents charmes du groupe, comme nous l'avons fait sur notre album 'I (Part.1)'. Nous voulons aussi nous connecter davantage avec notre espagnol i.ENIN". Votre charisme est visible dans votre nouveau travail. Ressentez-vous l'amour de i.ENIN en Espagne ? Avez-vous l'intention de venir en Espagne pour le conquérir ?

Seowon - En utilisant SNS, il y a des i.ENIN qui aiment NINE.i en Espagne. Je ne suis jamais allé en Espagne, mais je vous remercie de m'avoir envoyé tant d'amour. Si j'en ai l'occasion, j'irai certainement rencontrer les i.ENIN espagnols.

KZ- What can we expect from NINE.i in 2023?

Jiho- You can see NINE.i who have grown more than last time. Please look forward to it and keep an eye on us.
