Interview with/Avec NINE.i

The group NINE.i (나인아이) owes its acronym to "EVERYDAY NEW i" and in January 2022, the company FirstOne Entertainment opened its social networks to make them known.
Its ten members are Jewon (Leader and Vocalist), Eden (Vocalist), Winnie (Rapper), Minjun (Vocalist), Vahn (Producer, Vocalist and Rapper), Vari (Vocalist), Seowon (Dancer), Taehun (Performance Leader), Joohyoung (Vocalist) and maknae Jiho (Rapper).
Jewon was seen in Produce X 101, Minjun in Wild Idol, Vahn was in HNB group and pre-debuted with UTH (the group disbanded before their debut), Seowon was seen in Dancing High and the others we will get to know little by little.
They debuted on March 30, 2022 with the mini-album "New World"; and on November 8, 2022 they made their first comeback with the EP "I. (Part 1)" Let's know more about them.

Le groupe NINE.i (나인아이) doit son acronyme à "EVERYDAY NEW i" et en janvier 2022, la société FirstOne Entertainment a ouvert ses réseaux sociaux pour les faire connaître.
Ses dix membres sont Jewon (leader et chanteur), Eden (chanteur), Winnie (rappeur), Minjun (chanteur), Vahn (producteur, chanteur et rappeur), Vari (chanteur), Seowon (danseur), Taehun (leader de performance), Joohyoung (chanteur) et maknae Jiho (rappeur).
Jewon a été vu dans Produce X 101, Minjun dans Wild Idol, Vahn était dans le groupe HNB et a fait un pré-début avec UTH (le groupe s'est dissous avant leurs débuts), Seowon a été vu dans Dancing High et les autres nous apprendrons à les connaître petit à petit.

KZ- Where does the name NINE.i come from, how did you come up with it?

Jewon- The name NINE.i represents 9 members with an internal energy with one connector of the group, “i”, which is Vari. It conveys a meaning of breaking stereotypes and proposing new points of view to the people by creating an algorithm in the world “i”. The group name was made based on our worldview.

KZ- D'où vient le nom NINE.i, comment l'avez-vous trouvé ?

Jewon- Le nom NINE.i représente 9 membres avec une énergie interne avec un connecteur du groupe, "i", qui est Vari. Il véhicule un sens de la rupture des stéréotypes et propose de nouveaux points de vue aux gens en créant un algorithme dans le monde "i". Le nom du groupe a été choisi en fonction de notre vision du monde.

KZ- What are your talents besides singing and dancing, what are you good at doing?

Vari- I’m taking my language lessons pretty seriously these days, so I would choose speaking English and Japanese as my talent! Also, the acrobatic moves I showed on the first group content is also one of my talents.
Joohyoung- My talent is being able to copy any moves instantly (^^). I don’t get scared easily, which makes me not afraid of challenges. It’s my talent to be bold and accept challenges.

KZ- Quels sont vos talents en dehors du chant et de la danse, que savez-vous faire ? Vari- Je prends mes cours de langue très au sérieux ces jours-ci, donc je choisirais de parler anglais et japonais comme talent ! De plus, les mouvements acrobatiques que j'ai montrés lors du premier contenu de groupe sont aussi un de mes talents. Joohyoung- Mon talent est d'être capable de copier n'importe quel mouvement instantanément (^^). Je n'ai pas peur facilement, ce qui fait que je n'ai pas peur des défis. C'est mon talent d'être audacieux et d'accepter les défis.

KZ- What do you remember most from your time as trainees?

Jiho- I remember the day when we practiced early in the morning. It was during my monthly evaluation for the song ‘Shoot Out’ by MONSTA X, and Jewon offered me to practice early in the morning with him. The early morning practice felt extra tiring for me, so I think it'll remain in my memory forever.
Seowon- I remember the company recital during my trainee days. Preparing for the recital made me feel excited as if I were preparing for an actual debut, and performing on stage motivated me and gave me the sense of hope during the hard trainee period.

KZ- Quel est le moment dont vous vous souvenez le plus de votre période de stage (trainee) ?

Jiho- Je me souviens du jour où nous nous sommes entraînés tôt le matin. C'était pendant mon évaluation mensuelle pour la chanson "Shoot Out" de MONSTA X, et Jewon m'a proposé de répéter tôt le matin avec lui. L'entraînement matinal était très fatigant pour moi, donc je pense que cela restera dans ma mémoire pour toujours.
Seowon - Je me souviens du récital de la compagnie pendant mes jours de stage. La préparation du récital m'a fait ressentir de l'excitation, comme si je me préparais à faire mes débuts. Le fait de me produire sur scène m'a motivé et m'a donné un sentiment d'espoir pendant cette période de stage difficile.

KZ- Which artists would you say have inspired you?

Vahn- I was inspired by the artists I frequently listened to during my childhood days. I grew up listening to bands such as Owl City, Maroon5, and Boys Like Girls. I think their vibes are portrayed in my work as well.

KZ- Quels sont les artistes qui vous ont inspiré ?

Vahn- J'ai été inspiré par les artistes que j'écoutais fréquemment pendant mon enfance. J'ai grandi en écoutant des groupes comme Owl City, Maroon5 et Boys Like Girls. Je pense que leurs vibrations se reflètent également dans mon travail.

KZ- Let's talk about "I. Part 1", how it was born, what you wanted to transmit, the concept...

Vahn- Since the subject of this album is “myself”, I tried to express as many human emotions as possible in this album. I finished writing the title song a long time ago, and I have worked very hard on it since. The title song for this album is about dreaming boldly and bravely like a young boy would do, and I wanted to send a message to anyone who is afraid to take challenges and dream.

KZ- Parlons de "I. Part 1", comment il est né, ce que vous vouliez transmettre, le concept...

Vahn- Comme le sujet de cet album est "moi-même", j'ai essayé d'exprimer autant d'émotions humaines que possible dans cet album. J'ai fini d'écrire la chanson titre il y a longtemps, et j'y ai travaillé très dur depuis. La chanson titre de cet album parle de rêver avec audace et courage comme le ferait un jeune garçon, et je voulais envoyer un message à tous ceux qui ont peur de relever des défis et de rêver.

KZ- What has been the most difficult song in lyrics, music or choreography?

Eden- I had a hard time recording the song ‘I AM’ the most because all the lyrics were in English. When I first received the demo from Vahn, I first noticed the complicated beat of the song, but I was happy that the result came out very well.
Winnie- I think for me the most challenging moment is singing my part “FLY further away (더 멀리 FLY)” in young boy while dancing because, while maintaining the precise dance moves, I have to also maintain a very high pitch.

KZ- Quelle a été la chanson la plus difficile en termes de paroles, de musique ou de chorégraphie ?

Eden- J'ai eu beaucoup de mal à enregistrer la chanson "I AM" car toutes les paroles étaient en anglais. Lorsque j'ai reçu la démo de Vahn, j'ai d'abord remarqué le rythme compliqué de la chanson, mais j'étais heureuse que le résultat soit très bon.
Winnie- Je pense que pour moi, le moment le plus difficile a été de chanter ma partie "FLY further away (더 멀리 FLY)" en young boy tout en dansant car, tout en maintenant les mouvements de danse précis, je dois également maintenir une hauteur de voix très élevée.

KZ- And what is your favorite song and why?

Vari- I love all the songs, but my current favorite song to listen to is ‘Young Boy’. I believe the song contains a great message.
Taehun- My favorite song is ‘I AM’. Since the song is written for the purpose of amazing performance, I find myself grooving to the rhythm without even noticing. Also, there are various rhythms involved in the song, which makes it seem more exciting than other songs.

KZ- Et quelle est votre chanson préférée et pourquoi ?

Vari- J'aime toutes les chansons, mais celle que je préfère actuellement est "Young Boy". Je pense que cette chanson contient un grand message.
Taehun- Ma chanson préférée est "I AM". Comme elle a été écrite dans le but de réaliser une performance étonnante, je me retrouve à groover sur le rythme sans même m'en rendre compte. De plus, il y a plusieurs rythmes dans la chanson, ce qui la rend plus excitante que les autres chansons.

KZ- If you could collaborate with another artist, who would you like it to be?

Winnie- For me, one of my most favorite artists is Lauv, so It would be a great honor if one day I could collaborate with him.
Minjun- I would say Taylor Swift. After hearing her latest album, I started listening to all her previous works as well. Her voice is very charming and I hope I can have such a charming and unique voice.

KZ- Si vous pouviez collaborer avec un autre artiste, qui aimeriez-vous que ce soit ?

Winnie- Pour moi, l'un de mes artistes préférés est Lauv, donc ce serait un grand honneur si un jour je pouvais collaborer avec lui.
Minjun- Je dirais Taylor Swift. Après avoir écouté son dernier album, j'ai commencé à écouter toutes ses œuvres précédentes. Sa voix est très charmante et j'espère que je pourrai avoir une voix aussi charmante et unique.

KZ- What are your plans for 2023?

Minjun- NINE.i’s goal for 2023 is to show various charms of the group, just like how we did on our album ‘I (Part.1)’. We also want to connect more with our Spanish i.ENIN.

KZ- Quels sont vos projets pour 2023 ?

Minjun- L'objectif de NINE.i pour 2023 est de montrer les différents charmes du groupe, comme nous l'avons fait sur notre album 'I (Part.1)'. Nous voulons aussi nous connecter davantage avec notre espagnol i.ENIN.
