KZ- Let's talk about "SUPERVILLAIN". When choosing the songs, what did you take into account, their success, what they mean to you?
VB- I tried to leave the song selection up to the fans. I felt it was very meaningful. I am very happy to be able to get close to the fans at this point in time, five years after my major label debut.
KZ- Parlons de "SUPERVILLAIN". En choisissant les chansons, qu'avez-vous pris en compte, leur succĆØs, ce qu'elles signifient pour vous ?
KZ- Tell us about "Changes", how did it come about, what do you want to convey?
VB- I received an offer for the theme song of a French movie, which was surprising and honoring at the time. I could discuss it in depth with the two directors and we ended up working out every single word for it. It’s a lovely song.
VB- I felt that the film was about diversity. I have always loved making diverse music, and I really resonated with the directors who had the same attitude. We discussed a lot about the tempo
of the songs, the message, and so on. In the end, I was told, "I trust you and leave it to you. It was a very comforting sense of responsibility.
KZ- What has been the most difficult part of the song (music, lyrics)?
VB- What I struggled with was the fact that evrey single person leads different lives. So I had to think of a message that would reach all of them, but it was really difficult and mind-boggling.
But as soon as I got over one wall, the problem was solved. Anyone may desire to change after all, and it was extremely helpful for me to realize that. Through the message of the song I was able to grow a lot as a human being.
KZ- How does this 2022 look like, any new projects?
VB- Who knows! There’s a mountain of stuff to enjoy, so much so that I can't decide on any single one. I can only hope we’re able to continue to have fun together.
KZ- If you were proposed the soundtrack of a Japanese anime, what would you like it to be and why?
VB- You love anime, don't you? Me too. As a Japanese culture, anime has a very strong influence and the power to move people. I’ve always wanted to create music that could multiply such power.
KZ- Si l'on vous proposait la bande originale d'un anime japonais, qu'aimeriez-vous qu'elle soit et pourquoi ?
VB- I love the spirit of “Pay it forward”. In theory, every human being should be able to be happy.
For me, as I try to find a method to do it, the way I can achieve it by turning everything into music. I’m so grateful for this life that it’s worth this simple challenge.
